Star Trucker UCC Guide

Below I’ll explain what UCCs are for in Star Trucker and how to use them properly.

Universal Control Circuits in Star Trucker

Universal Control Circuits (UCC for short) allow your Star-Hauler to communicate effectively with the various systems required for daily use.

There are no alternate or efficient versions for a UCC, these all work the same.

  • Hit Points: 100
  • Base Price: $150

NOTICE: There is no capacity as they share the same Hit-points.

Their value can change depending on local prices. This applies to every sector.

Where to Obtain

Trading & Markets

Almost every trading post in the Galaxy will sell UCCs including Auto Essentials’. Be mindful that these fall under the Electronics Category which their value can be pretty expensive in some sectors especially for the Mineral Colonies as a large majority of electronics are shock sensitive.

Salvaging

This is one of the best ways of making money but also to find resources if you want to save on money. However, unless you are either in close proximity or have obtained a Upgrade for your Scanner, finding such can be difficult to find. Essentials such as UCCs and Power Cells can sometimes be found while salvaging.

Servicing & Replacing

Mentioned in my previous guide, “Power Cells (and YOU!)”, docking into a station will redirect the power to your rig, halting the rate of which Power Cells drain. Unfortunately this doesn’t apply to Universal Control Circuits since they are in constant use as soon as they are slotted in.

Be sure to take caution when putting down UCCs as damaging them will also shorten their lifetime and effectiveness to properly control your Star-Hauler’s Systems. You can move them with a container or slowly put them down on top of something.

Replacing a UCC with low Hit Points

There is no ability to be able to check on how long your Universal Control Circuit is from failing, meaning you need to manually inspect them.

If you are unsure where your Breaker is, It’s underneath the stairway next between your bed and your storage rack. You should always be sure to turn off the breaker to the UCC you want to replace as being careless will lead to short-circuiting your Truck entirely, leaving to the random shut-off of other systems.

Replacing a Dead UCC

Some drivers will decide to completely use up the UCC until the system alert goes off that it needs replacing.

On channel 3 of your Left Monitor, you can see whether or not your UCCs are in need of replacing.

[ONLINE] > Systems are Operational

[OFFLINE] > The switch for this breaker is off

[ERROR] > Either your power cell is depleted or your UCC could be at fault. Sometimes the reason for your Suit Charger or Gravity Compensator failing is because your UCC is completely worn.

NOTE: there is no UCC for Shock Shielding as that is taken over by Shock Pods

As long as your Universal Control Circuit is completely out of HP, you are able to freely disconnect the old one and slide in a replacement without having to turn off any breakers or causing a short circuit.

Stockpiling

Depending on your budget and your preference, It’s always a good idea to stockpile on spares in the event one of your Universal Control Circuits fail or malfunction in the middle of a long haul. Preferably a single hard case as your Star-Hauler’s systems use only 4 UCCs at a time. It is completely optional to sell any excess UCCs that are over your preferred amount or if you feel you have too many.

Finally; “Power Cells (and YOU!)” because they use both UCCs and Power Cells for both the Suit Charger and Gravity Compensator, and they seem to work together.
