In this Star Trucker Air Filters guide, I explain how Air Filters help recycle cabin air and reduce pressure on the Oxygen Generator. I also cover their basic stats, where I can buy or salvage them, how I check filter condition from the right monitor, when I replace them, and why keeping spare filters in storage can make longer hauls safer.

Where to Obtain
Trading & Markets
Air Filters are most commonly found in Auto Essentials / Upgrade Shops across the galaxy (see ‘Identifying Repair Shops’ for a list of locations) though can be scarce at times in the average market, although Cosmo’s Cash n’ Carry sometimes sells them.

Salvaging
This is usually the best choice of finding things that are as expensive as Air Filters though don’t fret! Sometimes you’ll find all sorts of essentials for your rig by Salvaging and will usually save you hundreds or even thousands!

Servicing & Replacing
“Overtime they deteriorate, reducing the rate at which oxygen is produced. It’s wise to replace air filters before they fail completely.” -The ingame User Manual
With a single Air Filter slotted in, it will provide +33 liters a hour although this will degrade overtime.
You should slot in another Air Filter once the primary is below 65% efficiency as your Oxygen Generator is creating less air than what you are consuming.

By checking on the Third Channel of your Right Monitor, you are able to view the conditions of your Air Filters and the exact percentage of the amount of oxygen in your Cab.
If the efficiency of one of your Air Filters reaches below 50% Efficiency, that’s when you should replace them. Although some will prefer to keep it in until that old filter is entirely used or until they make a quick stop to sell off those old Filters.
Using 1-2 Air Filters instead of 3-4 will save on not just Spares but it will also save you Cash! Even if having all 4 slots used will make the consumption of oxygen last longer.
Remember! As the HP of your Air Filters lower, It’s efficiency will too. Like UCCs, damaging them will shorten their lifespan so make sure you lower them as close to a surface before putting them down or carry them in a Container.
Sometimes if your Cab’s Oxygen is draining even though your Air Filters are in good condition, this could mean the Power Cell for your Oxygen Generator is depleted and needs to be replaced.
Stockpiling

Depending on your budget and your preference, It’s always a good idea to stockpile on spares. Whether it is a hard-case or 1-2 cardboard boxes. If you feel that you have too many or want to save on weight, It is completely optional to sell any excess Air Filters.
Note
Running 4 Filters you can have 3 good Filters and use a 4th filter until it gives up. I try to cylce them the following way:
1: 75 – 100% HP
2: 50 – 75% HP
3: 25 – 50% HP
4: 0 – 25% HP
That way you can fully use a filter up instead of swapping it out early meaning you get either way more use out of them compared than a 2 filter setup.
