Unlocking Infected Recipes
Here’s how to unlock and use special recipes for treating infected animals. Follow these steps to make sure you handle infections properly.
Infected Medicine
- Purpose: Cures an infected animal.
- How to Unlock: Go to CJ’s locker in the hub right after getting the first call about where CJ is.
- Important: If you go to the enclosure first, you’ll miss this chance and need to restart to unlock this recipe.
- Ingredients Needed: 1 Blood Sample.
Infected Food (Optional)
- Purpose: Slows down the mutation process or temporarily reverses it in a mutated animal.
- How to Unlock: After collecting your first parasite sample from a euthanized mutated animal.
- Ingredients Needed: Meat (You can get meat by grinding animal corpses at the hub between enclosure visits).
Identifying the Infected Animal
Infected animals act like sick animals, but they won’t test positive for any sickness symptoms when you check the symptom map.
Sick animals will always show at least one of these symptoms:
- Mucus: Visible under a UV light.
- Scarring: Big scratches or missing flesh.
- Zoochosis: Erratic behavior like aggression, panic, squealing, or vomiting.
If an animal shows any of these signs but has a clean symptom map, it means: THEY ARE INFECTED WITH A PARASITE.
Curing the Infected Animal
To cure the infected animal, you’ll need to inject it with infected medicine. But it’s not that simple!
Before We Start:
- Infected Medicine is just the infected version of the regular sick medicine, so you need a diagnosis first.
- Warning #1: Infected medicine will infect non-infected animals, so be careful.
- Warning #2: You can’t get a diagnosis and make the infected medicine in one trip because you need all the blood samples, so you’ll have to come back with more.
- Warning #3: The infected animal will mutate after one trip.
You Have Two Options:
Option 1: The Meat Way
Requires:
- 1 Vial of Infected Medicine
- 1 Infected Meal
You can use the infected meal anytime before Step 5 (even after the animal mutates), but it’s better to use it at Step 1 so you don’t need to make two meals.
Steps:
- Feed the animals (ideally the infected meal).
- Collect data from the symptom map and make a diagnosis.
- Return with the blood syringe and collect a blood sample.
- Make the infected medicine.
- Inject the infected animal with the medicine.
- Cured!
Option 2: The Meatless Way
Requires:
- 3 Vials of Infected Medicine
Note: There’s a risk of the non-mutated animal dying if you don’t move quickly.
You can switch to “The Meat Way” anytime before Step 5.
Steps:
- Feed the animals.
- Collect data from the symptom map and make a diagnosis.
- Return with the blood syringe and collect a blood sample.
- Make the infected medicine (by this time, the infected animal will have mutated).
- Inject the mutated animal 3 times with the infected medicine.
