Welcome to Elderfield How to Unlock Rituals

Rituals in Welcome to Elderfield give me special abilities that I can use for combat or utility. Some rituals can also be used outside of battle through the Rituals menu. In this guide, I cover the ritual skills I can unlock, where I get them, their MP costs, and what each one does.

Welcome to Elderfield Guides

How to Unlock Ritual Skills

I begin the game with Energy Blast and the basic Guard skill. The other ritual skills have to be found, purchased, or earned as I progress.

Early and Easy Rituals

Energy Blast

Energy Blast is one of the ritual skills I have from the beginning of the game.

  • How I Get It: Given to me at the start of the game.
  • Cost: 2 MP
  • Effect: Fires a weak shot of energy.

Warp

I can unlock Warp while exploring the first floor of the Mall. After entering Ultra Video, the first shop after I walk in, I talk to the Shopper on the far right near the SALE and camera display.

  • How I Get It: Mall F1, inside Ultra Video.
  • Cost: Free
  • Effect: Warps me home.

I like grabbing Warp early when I explore the Mall because it gives me a free way to return home after a bad run, making the Ultra Video detour worthwhile.

Dark Shield

I get the Dark Shield ritual tome by defeating the Office Slime standing in front of the Mall F1 Hallway door in the southern snack and hallway area.

  • How I Get It: Defeat the Office Slime and loot its ritual tome.
  • Cost: 3 MP
  • Effect: Increases Defense and Magic Defense by 20% for 3 turns and gives +1 Recovery.

Mall Vending Machine Ritual Tomes

I can buy several ritual tomes from the vending machine in the Mall. After purchasing one, I use the tome to learn its skill.

Lesser Mending

  • Price: 25g
  • Cost: 10 MP
  • Effect: Restores 20 HP and gives +1 Recovery.
  • Outside Battle: Yes

Cosmic Premonition

  • Price: 50g
  • Effect: Reduces enemy Attack and Defense by 20% for 3 turns and gives +1 Recovery.

Torrent of Darkness

  • Price: 100g
  • Effect: Deals Darkness damage to all enemies.

The same vending machine also has related combat skill tomes, including All or Nothing for 25g and Heavy Blow, which costs 5 MP to use.

Later Story and Area Rituals

As I progress through later parts of the game, I can unlock additional rituals from characters, locations, and chamber doors.

Dark Blast

  • How I Get It: Old Man Jackson after Build-A-Wife.
  • Cost: 5 MP
  • Effect: Deals Darkness damage, gives +1 Fatal, and may inflict Hex.

Ghost Blast

  • How I Get It: A gift from Pete, the laundry ghost, in the apartment laundry room.
  • Cost: 5 MP
  • Effect: Deals Curse damage, gives +1 Fatal, and may inflict Fear.

Energizing Blast

  • How I Get It: Found in the Library.
  • Effect: Has a 15% chance to generate 1 AP.

Pumpkin Blast

  • How I Get It: After opening the chamber doors in the Old Woods.

Chaos Thorns

  • How I Get It: After opening the chamber doors in the Sewers.
  • Alternate Spelling: Chaos Torns on the wiki.
