In this guide, I explain the full TR49 experience from start to finish. I cover the story, how I systematically found every source, how to name all works, how to unlock Endpeace, how to obtain Beatrice’s password, all endings, and achievements.
TR-49 Walkthrough Guide
Below is the story description for TR-49, instructions on how to find all resources, and a detailed list of achievements! For all codes in TR-49, please refer to our codes guide.
Finding Sources 1/3
Initial Sources and Early Deductions
My first readable source is ES92. This immediately tells me that CC left an entry dated to 49, so I check CC49. CC49 mentions Quentin Lamarchant publishing in 1918, which leads me to QL18.
QL18 states that Lamarchant died six years later, so I check QL24. That entry explains that AJ wrote about his work two years after his death, which brings me to AJ26.
From this point onward, I focus heavily on the Academicalist’s Journal because its publication pattern is predictable.
Academicalist’s Journal Timeline
According to QL18, the first Academicalist’s Journal issue was published in 1926. I use LI57 on AJ26 to reveal all known issue numbers.
Since the journal publishes yearly and ends in 1970, I calculate the missing issues based on known gaps:
- AJ26 is issue 1
- AJ27 issue 2
- AJ30 issue 5
- AJ32 issue 7
- AJ35 issue 10
- AJ41 issue 16
AJ41 explains that publication resumed after the liberation of France, meaning AJ45 is issue 17. From there, numbering returns to normal.
This leads me to AJ68 issue 36 and AJ70 issue 37, the final entry.
Archivist Notes and Personal Codes
At this stage, I trigger the event where TR49 mentions CC11 needing HE19 from AL12. These are personal archivist codes.
CC11 references QM55 and B347 and explains the computer was under development for six years. This leads me to TR43 as the original machine.
B347 confirms Beatrice’s last name as Dooler. Since CC49 says she worked with Cecil in 49, I find BD49.
AL12 does not go directly to Aliz. Instead, it leads to messages ending with MAZE. Using ES92, I calculate AC85, then AC81, which leads me into the maze MA23.
Solving the MA23 Maze
The maze is a short text adventure. I proceed through PA74, inspect NT41, collect AK37, retrieve TR19, take RO40, then use the key to reach EX17 and AC70.
At AC70, I enter PO01 to access LC65 and MA43. LC65 hints again toward AL12.
AC70 also gives an essential rule: each author has an index tied to their birth year.

Author Indices and Key Figures
With the Academicalist’s Journal fully mapped, I identify several authors.
Pierre Letour
AJ70 states Pierre Letour died one year later at age 72. This gives me PL72 and a birth year of 1898, leading to PL98.
His daughter Ursula is mentioned in AJ68 as being 26 in 1968. This leads to UL73 and an index at UL42.
Reverend Alfonso
AJ30 reviews a masterpiece written four years earlier by Reverend Alfonso. This leads me to RA26.
He lived to 100 and died in 63, meaning he was born in 63. I check RA63 for his index. RA26 also links to GA00.
Quentin Lamarchant
From earlier entries, I already have QL18 and QL24. QL24 states he died at 68, so his birth year is 1856, giving me QL56.
DP08 is referenced as influencing his 1911 work, so I find QL11.
The Literary Review
LR53 identifies itself as volume 44 and mentions volume 50. Assuming annual publication, I find LR59.
LR59 explains the journal existed before 1900, so I check LR00. Using LI57, I identify volumes 18, 44, 50, 56, 72, and 90.
Cecil clarifies publication gaps during both world wars. This lets me correctly identify:
- LR22
- LR53
- LR59
- LR65
- LR81
- LR99
Hammerstone Press
AJ27 states Hammerstone Press started in 1906, shut down at 16 years, and returned ten years before 1966.
This gives me HP06, HP22, and HP56.
HP06 mentions anonymous writers starting in 1908, so I also check HP08 and HP09.
Finding Sources 3/3
Dorothea Pemberton
Pemberton appears across journals and Cecil’s notes.
- DP96 first book
- DP11 written the year she died
- DP00 quoted in CC49
- DP08 mentioned by Hammerstone Press
AJ32 reveals she was born in 1881, giving me DP81 as her index.
Joshua Silverton and Pinkin Kendrick
CC59 links IA33 and JS38, confirming Silverton wrote under an alias.
JS38 is addressed to Emma under her maiden name. Her reply is EM39.
Silverton died five years later, so I find JS43. EM39 mentions another letter in the following year, JS40.
JS40 states he died at 40, meaning his birth year was 1903. This gives me JS03.
JS85 is a disturbing letter written after his death and links to RC92.
Pinkin Kendrick
PK36 states Kendrick was 47 that year, giving him a birth year of 1889 and index PK89.
I then find PK37, PK51, and PK74.
PK37 references AT59 and AT35. Aliz also mentions WI11.
Emma Kendrick Silverton Meyfleur
Emma’s books use compound titles and change initials with her surname.
Using LR81, I determine her birth year is 1909, leading to EM09.
Her works are found across:
- EM36
- EK52
- EK65
- EK77
- EM80
- ES92
Naming Endpeace
- Endpeace is identified naturally by fully exploring the archive.
- Clues indicate it is a compound word book capable of raising the dead. Aliz’s notes narrow it to later Emma books.
- LR65 confirms Emma published that year. EK65 includes Cecil disputing Kendrick’s authorship, noting Emma always uses compound titles.
- EK77 is published the year Cecil died. LR81 contains Emma admitting publishing brought her love back from the dead.
- I conclude Endpeace is EK77.
Beatrice’s Password
- WI93 requires a password hinted as a man above and a man inside.
- ED17 leads me to DE39 and BC67, which confirms Beatrice had a son named William.
- Multiple notes confirm Beatrice would name a son Will, after her grandfather.
- JS85 and RC92 confirm William’s presence.
- WI11 is the correct password.
Story Summary
TR49 is a machine that enforces revisions by constant observation. Revisions originate with Xavier Youngman, expand through Pemberton, and are weaponized by Kendrick, Silverton, and Emma.
Endpeace is immortal because it can revive itself. The player is not human but AB81, a pattern matching algorithm.
Endings
I can choose to:
- Stop AB81 without disabling TR49
- Destroy TR49 by deleting QM55
- Delete DP08, PK37, or JS40 to prevent Endpeace
- Erase revisions entirely by deleting XY55 or XY78
