This guide will help you defeat Leo in Yarimono without using cheats or crashes.
Yarimono How to Beat Leo
Here’s a walkthrough to help players who want to challenge this achievement without taking the wrong path.
If you’re aiming to defeat Leo without cheating or ramming:
- First, buy 10 Energy Mushrooms in the starting village before setting out. Don’t worry about spending 5000 coins, and avoid reloading the game just to save money. (If you’ve already unlocked it, you can lose the battle and skip the mushrooms.)
- Remember to interact with the statues you see, as collecting all 10 will let you level up your trainer rank and unlock an achievement.
Starting Path
- Head southwest into the grass to pick up a Sunglasses Mushroom and level up. Then, defeat all the trainers except for Caretaker Girl Kozue (recommended level 28).
- If you encounter a Chochu along the way, catch it and train it to gain experience.
By the time you reach the big city, you should be at level 12. After the Leo event, heal at the center, then head to the ruins via the path above the starting road.
- After entering the ruins, exit to the northwest to reach the southern ancient path. Capture a Massa and use experience shards to level it and Chochu to level 12.
Before fighting Leo
- Save the game. Use Chickup first and have it take down the first two Pokémon. When Leohowl enters, switch to Massa.
- Rely on Massa and Chochu’s abilities to trigger Curse and Burn. Use Energy Mushrooms to revive your team and wear down Leo.
If you don’t trigger Curse within the first four turns, reload the game. Leo’s Lightsaber can heal him, so delaying the Curse wastes revives. After winning, your trainer level will be 13.
Post-Battle Path
- Follow the storyline and head straight to the central city, avoiding other trainers. Collect the Sunglasses Mushroom from the northeastern grass before entering the city.
- If the story-related fight kills your team, don’t worry; the story will continue as normal.
- Once Chickup evolves and you regain free movement, collect the remaining Sunglasses Mushrooms in this order:
- The Burning Hidden Cave (blocked by Elite Trainer Jill on the starting path)
- The Deep Green Hidden Cave (north on the Seaside Road, past the Holy Path, and behind the church)
- The eastern grass in the Port Town
- The Hidden Cave in the Inlet
After collecting these, you should be at level 18. Return to the big city and battle the following NPCs in order:
Big City
- Buzzcut Boy Shota – Recommended level: 10
- Central Police Officer Watson – Recommended level: 15
- Craftsman Jinpei – Recommended level: 15
- Gentle Brother Rokuro – Recommended level: 16
- Senior Office Worker Yoshimitsu – Recommended level: 25 (has only one Pokémon, immune to Burn)
- Tomboy Girl Natsumi – Recommended level: 35 (has only one Pokémon, unaffected by status changes)
Big City Non-Elemental Gym
- Male Student Shingo – Recommended level: 10
- Leona – Recommended level: 25 (has only one Pokémon, Chickup can handle it with normal attacks)
Holy Path
- Rebel Nun Nene – Recommended level: 21
- Matsuki of the Chitoryu Shrine – Recommended level: 20
- Central Church Nun Ami – Recommended level: 22
Seaside Road
- Battle Idol Haruka – Recommended level: 15 (inside the central teahouse)
- Water Sports Athlete Shizaki – Recommended level: 24
- Male Caretaker Taiga – Recommended level: 24
- Mohawk Musician Gunn – Recommended level: 27
- Big Sister by the Beach Fran – Recommended level: 28
- Big Guy Mampuku – Recommended level: 28
Mokuhane Ranch
- Aridream Breeder Mina – Recommended level: 20 (has a level 25 Black Crow Crow, Chickup can handle it with normal attacks)
- Cowboy Girl Emily – Recommended level: 21 (has a level 33 Goo Goo Chicken Snake, defeat it using Curse)
By this point, your trainer level should be 37. If you haven’t replaced your Aridream, Chochu and Massa should carry you through the rest of the game, and they should also have fully evolved.
You won’t have trouble dealing with the remaining trainers—just be cautious of Aridreams like Shelled Snails that are immune to status effects. After this, simply defeat all trainers you encounter in a thorough search, and by the time you head to Wa Village, you should have a level advantage (level 50 or above).
- At level 40, go to the church to get the Magic Broom to help with traveling. Once you’ve triggered the Curse and stopped healing, you’re almost done.
That’s the guide for an efficient route.
