In Mycelarium, I can discover magical mushrooms while exploring different underground layers. Each mushroom has a unique appearance and provides a different effect, from expanding my roots to improving production speed. In this guide, I cover where I found five magical mushrooms and what each one does.
All Magical Mushroom Locations and Effects
During my exploration in Mycelarium, I found these mushrooms across three underground levels. Some are hidden inside stone labyrinths, so I recommend keeping enough water and food available before digging extra tunnels to reach them.
Mushroom Locations and Appearance
Here are the locations, appearances, and effects of the five magical mushrooms I discovered in Mycelarium.
Water Shroom (Blue)
The Water Shroom was the first magical mushroom I found during my playthrough. I discovered it on the first underground level, where the soil is brown. It was also the easiest one for me to find.
Once obtained, the Water Shroom sends roots in random directions from my already-grown nodes, allowing my mycelium to spread in different directions.
Cosmos Shroom (Purple)
I found the Cosmos Shroom on the first underground level, in the brown soil area. Unlike the Water Shroom, this purple mushroom usually grows inside a stone labyrinth, so reaching it requires some extra tunnel exploration.
I recommend saving enough water and food before digging toward its location. The Cosmos Shroom makes my mycelium glow, and I can turn this glow off by pressing the F key. From time to time, my fungal hyphae also shimmer with a purple color.
Flora Shroom (Red)
The Flora Shroom is a red mushroom with a pointed appearance. I found it on the second underground level, where the soil changes to grey. It grows inside the stone labyrinth in this area.
Its effect is particularly useful because it scares squirrels away permanently. Before exploring the labyrinth to find it, I recommend keeping extra water and food available for digging additional tunnels.
Fauna Shroom (Green)
I found the Fauna Shroom on the second underground level, in the same grey soil region as the Flora Shroom. This green mushroom grows inside a stone labyrinth and has a distinctive rounded cap that appears to be turned inside out.
The Fauna Shroom reduces the cost of building mushrooms by 25%. This makes mushroom construction less expensive once I have obtained its effect.
Light Mushroom (Yellow)
The Light Mushroom is located much deeper underground. I found this yellow mushroom on the third level, where the soil is red. It grows either inside or near the stone labyrinth.
I can recognize it by its pointed, pine-like caps. Its effect increases both production and building speed by 50%, making these processes faster after I obtain it.
