In this guide, I’m simply explaining everything I’ve learned so far about horses in The Legend of Khiimori. Knowing about purchasing, breeding, statistics, training methods, and characteristics will help you progress more efficiently over time and breed better horses.
Horses Guide
This guide will help you clearly understand how horses work in The Legend of Khiimori game.
Buying Your First Horse
When I first started playing, I wanted to jump straight into breeding. However, the game requires a little patience at the beginning.
After completing the first quest segments and officially finishing the tutorial, Yisu gives me some money to help me buy my very first horse.
At this stage, I only have three options. The coat patterns are basic, but this is temporary. The purpose is to help me get started before I can expand my stable.
The seller offers three types of horses:
- A strong horse
- A fast horse
- A balanced horse
The choice depends entirely on my preferred playstyle. I personally chose the strong horse because I wanted that specific breed.
I can choose between:
- Mongolian horse
- Akhal Teke
- Ferghana
I bought the Ferghana model, which had high strength.
Here is what the core stats mean:
- Strength allows me to carry more items.
- Endurance improves stamina efficiency.
- Balance reduces the chance of tripping on steep slopes.
The decision depends on how I want to play. I do not have to keep this horse forever. Later in the game, I can sell it to the horse trader. At this point, I simply need a horse to progress.
The Breeding Process
Once I start earning money and understand the game better, I can begin breeding.
To breed, I need a minimum of three horses:
- One to ride
- One stallion
- One mare
Without both a stallion and a mare, breeding is not possible.
To purchase breeding horses, I go to the horse trader. I recommend saving at least 1000 coins before starting. If I do not like the available horses, I can wait a few in game days for new options.
Breeding costs 20 coins. After breeding, it takes one full in game day for the foal to be born. If I do not want to wait, I can sleep in the nearby shack until sunrise.

To interact with the mare and foal, I walk to the gate on the left side of the breeding station and interact with it to teleport inside. There, I can pet my horses.
It takes about three in game days for the foal to grow up. After that, I can ride it as my new delivery companion.
Horse Skills and Stats
In The Legend of Khiimori, horses have five trainable skills:
- Strength
- Agility
- Endurance
- Balance
- Spirit
I can open my horse profile by pressing O to see detailed explanations of each stat and its impact.

Each skill requires different training methods.
Strength Training
- Carrying heavy cargo
- Riding through rough terrain such as sand, snow, mud, and water
- Enduring injury or poison
If my horse trips and becomes injured, it can increase strength. However, I should not leave a horse injured for too long because it may have negative effects.
Agility Training
- Galloping
- Riding on rock, ice, or through forests
- Performing power stops
Riding faster through forests can help train agility more effectively.
Endurance Training
- Riding with low health
- Enduring freezing weather
- Enduring hot weather
Balance Training
- Riding uphill
- Riding while unbalanced
- Riding into headwind
To ride while unbalanced, I place cargo unevenly on my horse.
Spirit Training
- Jumping over obstacles
- Enduring scary situations such as escaping bears and wolves
- Riding with low stamina
Riding with low stamina slightly hurts the horse, so I use this carefully.
Horse Traits
Horses in The Legend of Khiimori can have personality traits. These traits affect mood and performance, either positively or negatively.
For example, one of my Mongolian horses named Bchan has:
- Nocturnal, which boosts mood at night
- Drinker, meaning she consumes more water
- Lazy, which lowers mood when galloping
Another Mongolian mare, Athena, has:
- Galloper, which boosts mood while galloping
- Wind Spooked, which lowers mood when exposed to wind too long

I have not discovered all possible traits yet, but I know that traits can be passed down to foals through breeding.
Wild Horses
In the current early access version of The Legend of Khiimori, I cannot interact with wild horses.

Although I cannot tame or breed them, I can still admire them from a distance.
