Retro Rewind Video Store Simulator Guide
This is my complete and detailed guide to Retro Rewind Video Store Simulator. I explain every system clearly and simply while covering all mechanics without skipping anything. I focus on how I actually play, manage, and grow the store step by step.
Table of Contents
Basics
I use flyers to bring customers into my store. I can carry up to five at a time and hand them out outside. If someone reacts positively, they will visit my store. If they react negatively, they will not come. If I accidentally throw a flyer instead of handing it over, that person refuses to interact with me while they are still nearby.
If I see someone already holding a tape, I do not approach them because they are already coming to return it. If a flyer gets stuck near the exit barriers, I cannot pick it up again, but it disappears after I reload the game.
Returns System
Customers return movies regularly during the day. I hear a beep and see a red light above the return station.
I pick up tapes and scan them. I can hold up to ten tapes at once. After scanning, several outcomes can happen:
- Normal return: I place the tape back on shelves
- Rewind required: I use the rewind machine, close it, wait two seconds, and remove the tape
- Late return: I get a notification and the system applies a late fee
- Broken tape: I hear a special sound and throw the tape away under the popcorn machine
- Reserved: I place the tape on the reserved shelf
Even if I assign an employee to this station, I still see and hear these signals.
Recommendations and Pickups
Customers come to the counter near the return station and ask for recommendations. I know they are there when I hear a sound and see an icon above their head.
Most requests are based on genre, but sometimes they ask for old, good, or bad movies. I use tags like OLD, GOOD CRITIC, and BAD CRITIC to choose correctly.
If I accept a request but cannot fulfill it, nothing negative happens. The customer continues shopping normally.
Customers also pick up reserved movies here. I take the tape from the reserved shelf and give it to them. After that, they either go to checkout or continue browsing.
Telephone System
The phone rings occasionally, and I handle different types of calls:
- Spam calls asking for random people or things
- Reservation requests where I can accept or decline
- Tips from customers who liked my recommendations
- Donations of movies, which are instantly delivered to the storage deposit box
New Releases
New releases appear on specific days. I can buy them in bulk, and buying five or more gives me a free standee.
They stay popular for seven days. I place them on new release shelves to maximize visibility. After seven days, they are still rentable but no longer boosted in popularity.
Bootlegger
The bootlegger appears every Tuesday and Thursday at 9 PM behind the store.
I know he is available when I see a note near the loading bay. He sells five discounted movies, often including one or two adult titles.
I can buy any or all of them and place them directly on shelves.
Machines
Slushy Machine
This is the first machine I unlock. Customers request specific flavors shown as icons.
I take a cup, fill it with one or more flavors, and serve it. If they request a rainbow, I include all flavors.
Popcorn Machine
Popcorn drops into the hopper. I tilt it, scoop it, and fill bags. Each bag holds two scoops.
Cotton Candy Machine
This machine unlocks later and works as another concession option.

- Revenue
