In this guide I will explain the tips that will help you level up and survive in the game.
Survival Guide for Megaloot
This is a general guide with hints and tips for improving your survivability. It’s not going to get into builds, but rather will provide you with a bit of a base framework of knowledge to build upon.
Plan Your Build
The shop tends to offer more items you’ve previously bought, though this bias decreases as you buy more. Planning your build before starting your run is key to identifying which items to prioritize in the shop for equipping or salvaging in the black market for permanent stats.
Purchasing only what’s necessary for your build ensures you’re equipped with the best gear for later, tougher floors.
Take time to explore the character rune tree, as these buffs apply to you, not your enemies. Look for combinations that align with your intended build.
Use the library to plan your build by tracking where certain items start dropping. You’ll likely go through a few sets of gear before obtaining your final setup, so planning in advance can help minimize waste and maximize your shop output.
Important Gear & Stats
Certain general stats can greatly aid your progress, especially when facing tougher enemies.
Look for synergies in gear sets and items (though these evolve as the dev adjusts balance). For instance, the Scout set allows dodging, and pairing it with the Shadow set bonus triggers counter-attacks each time you dodge. Adding gear from the Demon set further boosts multi-attacks.
If you’re struggling with damage early on, consider equipping a weapon with the Swiftness set bonus, which doubles your total attacks. Even if your base attack drops, attacking more often can lead to faster kills.
Good Early Sets:
- Scout Set: Available from Floor 1, helps dodge attacks early when your armor and health are low.
- Silver Set: Also from Floor 1, this set cleanses debuffs like poison for the first two turns. Though the full set isn’t special, the bonus is great for early survivability.
- Mercenary Set: Found from Floor 2, this set grants extra attacks every 8 floors and provides gear drops you can sell, making it useful for both gold and gear progression.
- Ethercrest Set: Available from Floor 2, it provides armor and Freeze Attack, which applies a damaging debuff.
- Turtle Set: Found from Floor 3, this set offers great armor and a first-turn immunity to damage, helpful against tough enemies like Kotya.
- Demon Set: From Floor 6, it provides multi-attacks for the first two turns, useful for eliminating enemies quickly.
- Royal Set: Found from Floor 7, this can be paired with the Silver set for cleanse and immunity buffs.
Notable Item:
- Common Marauder’s Helmet: Counts as both Silver and Mercenary, granting both set bonuses. Pair this with the Royal set for added loot and survivability.
Good Items to Salvage
Salvaging items in the Black Market is crucial for building permanent stat boosts. Focus on key stats to survive tougher floors.
- Precision: You’ll need 100 to counter Jupiter’s dodge ability on Floor 20.
- Giant’s Ring: From Floor 8, boosts %health.
- Dazzle: Provides armor through Sparkle stacks. Salvage the Amulet for the best value.
- Cataclysm Mask: Great for a flat power boost.
- Believer’s Locket: Increases faith, boosting damage against elites.
- Bloodedge: A huge boost to physical attack, life steal, and penetration.
- Turtle Gauntlet: A big armored attack bonus. Pair it with Dazzle for massive armor stacks.
- Rod of Doom: Big magic attack bonus, though magic builds may not be as viable for high levels.
- Throngler: Provides major boosts to physical attack, crit, and health.
Pay Attention to Enemies
Attack Order
- Sometimes the order you attack enemies in matters. For example, the Boar (Floor 1) stuns, so kill it first. The Wizard Skeleton (Floor 4) casts a magic barrier, which you should eliminate before focusing on others.
Kotya
- Kotya has Repulse, which causes him to parry your first turn. Skip your turn to avoid this.
Jupiter
- Jupiter dodges and stuns if successful. Salvaging Hunter’s set for precision ensures your attacks land.
Iron Golem
- Has high armor and armored attacks. Boost penetration to get through its defense.
Converting
- You can convert shop items to add their stats to your character for one round. Use this to temporarily boost your stats in difficult situations.

How do sets work?
- Each hero can equip 4 different sets at once.
- your class set is the only one predetermend, the other 3 are free choice.
- Some items belong to 2 classes, so its pretty easy to hit that 4 set limit
- daggers for example are always: something (like frost or gold) + swift (double attack count)
- You want to add a new set? fully remove one of the 4 you already wear.
- ( and yes it is limited to 3 if you ignore your class items )
- consider checking out the libary for an item planer
- Libary only shows items you reached thus far, they unlock with new stages.
- In the upper left corner above your gear, there are 3 question marks. As you equip gear, these will change to the icons of your equipped sets, and you can mouseover to see their effects.
- You cannot equip gear belonging to more than 3 total sets. In other words, if all your question marks have turned to set icons, you can’t equip gear with different set icons.
- In order to equip other setted gear, you will have to fully remove all pieces with one set icon from your character.
- Its icon in the upper left will turn back to a question mark, giving you back an open set slot.
- Some gear has no set and can be equipped at any time. Some gear belongs to multiple sets. The icons in the gear’s name will show you.
- Finally, your character also has a 4th, built-in set, which you can check during a run by mousing over your character’s portrait.
How to convert items/weapons? and what does it even do?
- You click on convert and then you can convert the current items shown in the shop to boost your stats.
- Note that this only last for this one battle.
What does dismantling do?
- When you dismantle an item, it will be destroyed and its stats will be added to your stats, permanently.
- Note that not all stats will be transfered, you can check which stats will be added by hovering over the item when it is in the dismantling slot.
