You can learn how all the rules work in the order of progression by LOK Digital in this guide.
All Rules in LOK Digital
In LOK, you’ll navigate through various worlds from the world map.
Each world contains a set number of puzzles, but not all need to be solved at once. Completing a certain number of puzzles in a world unlocks a new world.
If all puzzles in a world are solved, a special puzzle appears on that world’s map. Solving it adds 1 key to your key counter.
Certain worlds require collectibles instead of puzzles to be unlocked. The required number of collectibles is displayed on the world map.
Basic Mechanics
Each puzzle in LOK consists of white tiles arranged in a 2D grid. Tiles may have a letter on them or be blank.
The goal is to turn all white tiles black, with no remaining actions.
To act, identify a game word spelled out on adjacent white tiles. Black tiles are inactive. Words can be spelled horizontally or vertically, forwards or backwards, without turns. Once the word is spelled, the tiles forming it turn black, and the word’s action is executed.
Words
- LOK: Select a tile and turn it black.
- TLAK: Select two adjacent tiles and turn them black.
- TA: Select a tile. Turn that tile and all tiles with the same letter black.
- BE: Select a blank tile, write any letter on it, and let it function normally.
- LOLO: Select a tile. Turn that tile and all tiles on the same antidiagonal black.
Adjacency
White tiles are adjacent if:
- They are directly next to each other.
- Black tiles or gaps separate them, provided they share the same vertical or horizontal axis.
They are NOT adjacent if:
- Another white tile separates them.
- They do not align on the same axis.
Special Letters
X:
- Acts as a conductor tile.
- Allows letters to be separated yet still spell a word, e.g., “LxxxOxxxxxxxK” is valid for “LOK.”
- Enables 90° turns.
- Remains white even after a word’s action is performed.
?:
- Can represent any letter except blank.
- Choice of representation applies every time it is used.
- Starting a word on “?” allows treating it as “X.”
Arrows:
- In World C, arrows turn black when selected and move one space in their direction, pushing nearby tiles.
W:
- In World E, all W’s turn black when selected, triggering an action. A pattern matching the W’s spacing must be turned black.
Glass
Glass shields white tiles.
- Glass breaks instead of turning black.
- Numbered glass can endure multiple hits equal to the number shown.
Monuments
Present only in World D, monuments:
- Are movable tiles placed within a grid.
- Cannot overlap.
- Lock into place when all are positioned, enabling puzzle interaction.
Be cautious; some monument configurations may render puzzles unsolvable.
More Words
ABA:
- Select a tile to “heal” it:
- Black tiles become white.
- White tiles gain glass.
- Glass tiles endure one more hit.
OLKO:
- Adds 1 bird to your total when used, but only once per world.
GRIVA:
- Functions only in World 9, where it instantly wins the puzzle and triggers the final cutscene.
Infinity
The game’s final level features an infinitely looping 5×5 grid.
- Edge tiles are adjacent to tiles on the opposite edge.
Good luck!
