Haven and Hearth PvP Guide

In this guide, I will explain how to survive with PvP in Haven and Hearth.

Haven and Hearth PvP

Informative guide how to survive a PvP scenario.

Stamina and Drinking

In Haven, staying energized is key since combat heavily depends on your stamina and drinking water. Every step you take lowers your stamina, and if it drops to 25% or lower when facing strong opponents, you’ll automatically teleport back to your hearth fire.

Important Movement Thresholds:

  • 50% Stamina: You stop sprinting.
  • 25% Stamina: You stop running.

To avoid stopping, drink water when you’re about 5-10% above these thresholds. A lot of players get knocked out because they run out of stamina. Always carry at least 15 liters of water as a minimum; carrying a belt full of water flasks and a bucket is even safer.

Combat Moves and Colors

Combat moves in Haven may seem confusing at first, but they follow a color-coded system to keep things simple. Each attack and restoration move has a color associated with it:

  • Green: Punch increases green; quick dodge lowers green.
  • Blue: Flex increases blue; sidestep lowers blue.
  • Red: Knock its teeth out increases red; zig-zag lowers red.
  • Yellow: Uppercut increases yellow; jump lowers yellow.

Focus on lowering your highest defensive color when being attacked to reduce damage. Try to keep defenses low (around 10%). If a color percentage is high, you’ll take more damage from that color’s attacks.

Some restorations like zigzag can lower more than one color. You can invest points in moves to make them more effective, especially for moves you’ll use often.

Key Combat Moves

  1. Oak Stance: Good for unarmed combat.
  2. Shield Up: Useful for melee combat (requires a shield).

Only include one maneuver in your combat deck unless you have experience with the game.

Running Tactics

Running properly can set apart good players. Here are essential tips:

  • Run in a straight line – avoid sharp turns.
  • Plan ahead – look for turns early.
  • Drink wisely – only when necessary and before your speed drops.
  • Use boosts – click on rabbits or speed buffs as needed.

Gaining distance is essential. When your opponent can no longer see you, a “?” will appear, meaning they may lose aggression. Hide behind a tree or rock to block their sight and teleport home.

Speed Buffs and Bunny Slippers

Speed buffs and rabbits are critical for on-foot escapes. Speed buffs give a temporary speed boost. Aim for them if they’re along your route.

Bunny Slippers are the best boots for running. Wear them during PvP for a speed boost when chasing rabbits. Rabbits let you gain distance, but avoid hard turns. Chase rabbits in a straight line for the best escape.

Types of Terrain

Two main terrain types affect your speed:

  1. Grassland: You can sprint here.
  2. Forest: You can only run here.

Identifying terrain is vital; grassland has fewer trees and includes areas like beaches, mountains, caves, and dirt paths. Avoid forests and swamps, as well as caves and mountains during a chase.

Rivers

Rivers are very risky; getting knocked out in deep water often leads to fatality. You can’t teleport out if you’re knocked out, and you might drown. Only cross rivers if you have a large gap between you and your pursuer, and use a speed buff if possible.
