Movement
Movement is key! In Sparking Zero, moving effectively will help you avoid attacks and get closer to your opponent for combos. Here are the most important ways to move:
- Step/Short Dash: Press [X/A] to move quickly to the side or forward. This makes it harder for your opponent to predict where you’ll be.
- Dragon Dash: Press [R2/RT] + [X/A] to rush at your opponent at high speed. It uses some Ki energy, but it’s great for getting close.
- Z-Burst Dash: Press [R2/RT] + [X/A] + [X/A] to dash behind your opponent quickly. This uses more Ki than Dragon Dash, but it’s perfect for surprising your opponent!
- Quick Ascend/Descend: Press [R2/RT] + [L1/LB] to rush upwards, or [R2/RT] + [L2/LT] to rush down. Use these to control your position in the air.
Offensive Combos
Rush Combos are your basic way to deal damage. You can press [Square/X] up to four times, then follow up with [Triangle/Y] to deal big damage with a chain of punches and kicks.
- Smash Attacks: Hold [Square/X] to charge up a powerful Smash Attack. A fully charged Smash is called a Power Smash and can knock your opponent far away.
- Lift Strike / Grand Slash: Use [Square/X] + Up + [Triangle/Y] to send your opponent flying, or [Square/X] + Down + [Triangle/Y] to slam them down.
- Vanishing Assault: Press [X/A] + [Square/X] near your opponent to vanish and appear behind them, attacking from close or mid-range.
- Dragon Dash Attack: Press [Square/X] during a Dragon Dash to attack while rushing at your opponent. This can be followed by a Pursuit Attack to keep up the pressure.
- Throw: Press [R1/RB] + [Square/X] to grab your opponent and throw them. You can also grab them when they are down to keep up the pressure.
Defensive Combos
Defending properly can save you from taking lots of damage. Here’s how to protect yourself and counter your opponent’s moves:
- Guard: Press [R1/RB] to guard. You can also hold Up or Down to guard against high or low attacks.
- Recovery: Press Down before hitting the ground or a wall to recover quickly.
- Super Perception: Hold [Circle/B] to counter incoming attacks. This consumes Ki, but if timed right, you can dodge and hit back immediately.
- Revenge Counter: Press [R3/RS] while being attacked to counter and stop your opponent’s combo. This costs a Skill Point but is super useful to interrupt combos.
- High-Speed Evasion: Press [R1/RB] just before an attack lands to dodge it and create a chance for a counterattack.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Overusing Ki: Don’t use all your Ki on dashes or special moves without keeping some for defense.
- Being Predictable: If you repeat the same combo too much, your opponent will learn to counter it.
- Ignoring Defense: Always remember to guard and evade, especially against strong attacks.
P.S Practice makes perfect! Try out these moves in different situations to see what works best for you. Have fun, and may your battles be epic!
