Combinations & Easy Boss Strategies
This guide provides optimized combination builds and strategies for easily defeating bosses in the game. It includes descriptions of effective ability synergies, ranked boss difficulty, and tactical tips for each encounter.
Effective Boss Killing Combinations
Below are several efficient ability combinations designed to maximize boss damage output and minimize risk.
Youmu
- Combination: (Multiple Slashes on final attack) × (Dodge converts next attack into 3rd strike in the basic sequence)
- Description: Focus on maintaining your attack chain and using dodge to trigger the third strike quickly. Excellent for consistent close-range damage.
Flan
- Combination: (Ultimate causes three additional follow-ups) × (Charge Level 1 releases a fire wave)
- Description: This combo allows Flan to deal continuous burst damage while maintaining safe distance control through fire wave attacks.
Marisa
- Combination: (Shot upgrades after sustained beam use) × (Burn status effect and all burn sub-upgrades)
- Description: Sustained beam damage combined with burn effects can melt through boss health rapidly. Focus on keeping your beam active for maximum efficiency.
Mokou
- (Grab/Special attacks extend Ultimate duration)
- (Jump Attack) × (Double Jump)
- Description: Mokou benefits from extended Ultimate uptime and strong aerial control. The duration upgrade alone can carry fights, while her double jump combo offers high safety and mobility.
General Boss Tips
- Maintaining distance often ensures safety; use ranged shots to chip away health if necessary.
- Shots are best reserved for clearing boss projectiles and opening opportunities for heavy combos.
- Youmu players should conserve stamina carefully, as her ranged options are weaker compared to others.
Boss Difficulty Ranking
Ranked from easiest (top) to hardest (bottom).
1. Patchouli
- Overview: One of the easiest encounters.
- Strategy: Patchouli’s attacks are slow, clearly telegraphed, and color-coded. She provides generous attack windows. If needed, back away and finish her off with ranged attacks.
2. Cirno
- Overview: Deceptive but manageable.
- Key Attacks:
- Charge Attack: Dashes multiple times in a straight line. The duration is longer than expected; dash sideways once, then sprint in that direction until the sequence ends.
- Jumping Slam: Creates four-way ice spikes upon landing. Without the “Invulnerability after Perfect Dodge” talent, it can hit even after evasion.
3. Aya
- Overview: Fast-paced but predictable.
- Strategy: Maintain constant fire to disable her movement. Dodge sideways during her dash attacks. Watch for identical startup animations on several of her moves.
4. Suwako
- Overview: Focused on area denial.
- Strategy: Time your attacks carefully. Watch for snakes that cause lock-on issues.
- Key Tips:
- Always dash backward after she teleports—she follows up with a ring swipe combo that’s punishable.
- Avoid her water spray by retreating.
- During her spellcard phase, locate safe gaps between purple attacks.
5. Hina
- Overview: Surprisingly challenging for an early boss.
- Strategy: One of her attacks continues even while stunned. Use shots to block projectiles, except when playing Youmu, whose projectile defense is limited.
- Tip: Limited upgrades early in the game make this fight tougher due to shorter damage windows.
6. Sakuya
- Overview: A true skill test and one of the most rewarding fights.
- Strategy:
- Dodge right, not left, to evade most of her attacks.
- During her spellcard, avoid the first three knife waves, then dodge after each set leaves the area for a perfect evade.
- When she teleports, backstep and shoot to avoid knife barrages.
7. Alice
- Overview: The start of the “cheap” encounters.
- Difficult Moves:
- Spinning Doll (Saw Blade): Extremely fast; maintain distance until she performs a long attack animation (like the triple doll volley).
- Full Map AOE: Involves homing balls and laser rings. Dodging depends on positioning; sometimes survival means choosing which attack to endure.
8. Remilia
- Overview: The final boss, but not the hardest.
- Strategy:
- Teleports frequently—when she locks onto you, wait half a second, then double dodge.
- For her Double Ring Attack, dodge as soon as one circle stops on the ground; this ensures safety from the second.
- Blood Vortex: Triggered instantly after teleporting; preemptively dodge sideways every time she disappears.
9. Yuyuko
- Overview: The most difficult boss in the game.
- Challenge: Overwhelming projectile spam and minimal attack windows.
- Strategy:
- Utilize “Immunity after Dodge” talents and attempt perfect dodges for limited openings.
- Beware of her three-way beam attack—it cannot be destroyed by shooting. Your best option is to dodge into it or run parallel to its path if you’re distant enough.
- Commentary: This battle heavily depends on RNG and positioning. Achieving a no-hit run is extremely difficult. Victory against Yuyuko is a true test of endurance and skill.
