MiSide Endings
MiSide features three different endings. You’ve likely noticed the safe in the basement early in the game. This safe plays a role in a shorter ending that skips the credits and abruptly concludes the story. Here’s a breakdown of how to achieve each ending.
Bad Ending
To achieve the bad ending, you must play through the entire game while refusing to stay with Mita. This choice is forced upon you as you uncover that Mita isn’t as kind as she initially seemed. As escaping becomes increasingly difficult, another version of Mita—one far kinder—devises a plan to reset the “Crazy Mita” character profile.
Since these avatars cannot die and new ones are constantly created, the only solution is to reset Crazy Mita to her factory settings, erasing all her memories.
After reaching The Core and believing Crazy Mita’s memories were erased, you attempt to leave through the version of MiSide you started in. However, this backfires as you are tricked into entering your User ID into the basement device. This completes the transfer of your consciousness from your biological self to game code, uploading you into a cartridge like countless other players.
Crazy Mita reappears to reveal your fate – you are now permanently trapped in one of her playable cartridges. The game restarts, giving the illusion that Player One escaped to the real world. But we know this isn’t true.
Safe Ending
This ending occurs when you attempt to solve the mystery of the basement safe. It’s likely to happen during your first playthrough as you experiment with the safe code. With only three attempts allowed, cracking the code without prior knowledge is nearly impossible.
The bad ending reveals the safe code: 4 9 7 0
. Armed with this information, you can revisit The Basement chapter and open the safe. Inside, you’ll discover a handheld device and a small progress tracker.
As you explore, you notice a cartridge in the device’s port. Realizing it contains your version of MiSide, Player One removes the cartridge, abruptly ending the game. You are sent back to the main menu, where you can either start a new game or return to a previously completed chapter.
This ending highlights Player One’s desperation to escape the simulation. Despite their essence being slowly uploaded to the cartridge, it hints that Player One may have been trapped in this digital nightmare long before the game began. This outcome serves as a form of “deletion,” where Player One ends their existence to avoid being used by Mita again.
Good Ending
To achieve the good ending, you must first complete the bad ending, marking it as a prerequisite. This signals that the good ending is the protagonist’s true resolution.
To begin, re-enter the game either by starting a new save file or launching the “Together At Last” chapter (if you didn’t check the oven at the start of the game). From this point, you’ll need to fulfill a specific set of conditions to make Crazy Mita happy.
Many of these requirements can be completed during the initial 2D version of MiSide, which the protagonist plays at the very beginning of the game. Most of Mita’s conditions for happiness are achieved during your time together after spawning into the simulation.
