Verfall Combat Guide
In Verfall, enemies are spread across the maps and will chase the heroes when they get close. There are two types of enemies: named and unnamed. Unnamed enemies will attack, dealing small damage, but they cannot be defeated. Named enemies, on the other hand, initiate turn-based combat. Defeating a named enemy will also defeat any nearby unnamed enemies. There are no randomly spawning enemies, meaning you will always have the choice to fight or flee, as all enemies are visible and directly in your path.
In combat, the initial menu allows you to choose between fighting manually or enabling automatic combat. If you choose to fight manually, a second menu will appear with the following options:
- Attack: The character’s basic attack, which does not consume magical power.
- Technique: This option includes abilities such as block, healing (if the character has this ability, allowing for life conversion and status cleansing), and some special attacks gained through cursed weapons.
- Special: Displays the magic and special attacks of each character.
- Automatic: Enables automatic combat, allowing attacks to be carried out quickly without manual intervention
Each character and enemy in Verfall has resistances and attack vulnerabilities, which can be viewed on the graph in the top-left corner of the screen. When an attack hits a weakness, the game will emit a sound alert and briefly highlight the weakness, allowing you to deal significantly more damage if you take advantage of the opportunity.
Verfall features a unique combat system: with each attack made, the cost of using that attack increases. In other words, repeating the same attack causes it to become progressively more expensive. If you’re not careful, magical power can quickly run out, and it can only be restored with a potion that must be used outside of combat. It’s important to note that using a potion to restore magical power costs karma, making the management and control of karma a crucial part of the strategy.
At the beginning of the game, heroes start with a limited number of powers — on average, two. However, this number of spells will increase as players defeat the bosses of each phase.”
