Vampire Hunters Beginner Guide

A beginner’s guide to Vampire Hunters, covering topics such as how to navigate the map, which weapons and relics to choose, how potions, chests and experience work, etc.

General Guide for Beginners

If you’re having trouble on your first few runs, remember this: it gets easier! As you keep playing, your stats (like damage, HP, and armor) will increase permanently, making it simpler to win each time. Don’t give up! Stick to one character so you can build up your upgrades. Here’s a quick guide on soul pickups:

  • Blue Soul = 1
  • Yellow Soul = 2
  • Purple Soul = 5
  • Red Soul = 10

Choosing a Character

For your first few runs, I recommend starting with the third character, the Paladin. As you level him up, you’ll unlock two powerful weapons: the Werewolf Familiar and Sunblast. Start with the Lightbringer weapon for him, and try to get a Pirate Cannon as soon as you can—it has the highest damage per second (DPS) and can cover a lot of area when upgraded.

Relics to Prioritize

While playing, focus on finding relics that boost these stats:

  1. Soul Chance (more experience points or “souls” drop): Look for relics like the Voodoo Doll, Talking Hat, and Phoenix Feather Wand.
  2. Ammo (more shots before reloading): Try Leather Bag, Motor Backpack, and Void Bag.
  3. Reload Speed (faster reload): Search for Leather Glove, Tome of Agility, and Demon Finger.
  4. Soul Collect Distance (collect souls from farther away): Useful relics include Magnet Keychain, Modified Magnet, and Soul Vacuum.
  5. Luck (better weapon upgrade chances): Look for Marked Card, Loaded Dice, and Rabbit’s Foot.
  6. Other helpful relics: Veteran’s Medal, Hunter Brotherhood Loyalty Card, and Lucky Clover.

Tips for Gameplay

  • Your gun automatically shoots at enemies in range, but you can also fire manually by clicking your left mouse button.
  • The green marker on your mini-map shows where the health potion is. Once you pick it up, a new one will appear shortly.
  • Grab chests as soon as they appear! They offer free weapon or relic upgrades without affecting your level or experience.
  • After defeating bosses, fewer enemies will appear for a while, giving you time to collect any leftover souls.
  • Try to find a “choke point” on the map where you can focus your attacks on a concentrated area of enemies, making it easier to defeat them and gather souls.

Moving Through the Map

Avoid running and gunning at first; instead, lead enemies into choke points where you can manage them better. A good choke point should have a clear escape route, a spot to focus your attacks, and visibility to see where enemies are coming from. This setup helps you handle large groups and gather souls if you need to move.

Weapon Selection

To be well-prepared, mix up your weapon choices. A strong setup includes:

  • 3 Pirate Cannons: Great for area control and DPS.
  • 2 Miniguns: Quick, steady damage.
  • 1 Killerfrost: Good for slowing down enemies.
  • 1 Pewgun: Reliable for backup.
  • 1 Acid Flower: Adds variety to your damage types.
  • 2 Extra Weapons of Your Choice: Feel free to experiment!
  • Secondary Weapons: Start with a Shield Generator for defense, and add an offensive secondary option.
  • Familiars: Pair the Cat Familiar (health bonus) with Meteor or Frog Familiar (for damage).

Boss Battles

Focus on bosses immediately, as they can disrupt your setup. Bosses drop special relics, so they’re worth targeting first. Here’s a quick priority list:

  • Slayme (slime trail can get in the way)
  • Saci and Beardedon (can attack from a distance)
  • Teyeth (spawns laser-shooting eyeballs)
  • Swarm Boss and Wicked Nurse (can wait until last)

If a boss is hard to find, check the icon on your mini-map.

Keep practicing, and you’ll soon see your stats and skill improve!
