World Map & Mission in SteamWorld Heist 2

A handy dandy guide to the World Map and Zones of Steamworld Heist 2, as well as a Mission Guide showing general mission layouts, Swag (Epic and plain), hats, and strategies.

Backwater Bay

The tutorial zone! You will skip this part of the game entirely if you skip the tutorial at the beginning, but you’ll miss out on some extra loot! (for instance: the Pirate Hideout will already be looted but you won’t have the extra Fragments and Gallons)

(1) Royal Navy Shipyard

Hats: Swordsman’s Hat, Navy Soldier Cap
Objectives: Find Wesley, ensure the crew survives
Bonus Objective: Steal the Forebot’s hat
Tips & Tricks: This is the first mission if you’re playing the tutorial. Take your time to learn the game mechanics. You can start collecting hats early here, but there will be plenty of chances later.

(2) Gorkin’s Taphouse (Rest Area)

Tips & Tricks: This area provides world-building elements and introduces the “rest your crew each day” mechanic.

(3) Ferried Firearms

Tips & Tricks: If you don’t mind starting a new game, you can skip the tutorial to “re-roll” the two random crewmates that show up at the Bar until you get what you want. Additionally, you can buy multiple Armored Plating I to stack Sub health beyond the side Machine Guns.

(2) Smuggler’s Run

Epic Swag: SMG Mk 1

Objectives: Survive until you can escape
Bonus Objective: Grab all plain Swag
Tips & Tricks: This level can be challenging, especially on Elite difficulty. Consider tackling it last or near last in this zone to level up your crew and acquire better weapons and utilities. The Epic Swag is in a room to the right behind a door marked with a green indicator (green means no enemies behind the door, yellow means enemies, and red is impassible).

(3) It’s a Trap!

Objectives: Investigate the shack
Tips & Tricks: The Epic Swag is found after the second drop in a green door on the left. Use explosive barrels above enemies to even the odds when outnumbered.

(4) Bones in the Ocean

Epic Swag: 3 Fragments

Hats: Small Spiky Helmet, Seashellmet, Occult Bone Cone
Objectives: Grab the Epic Swag
Bonus Objective: Scrap 3 Skelebots in a single turn
Tips & Tricks: This is your first encounter with a new faction. Pay attention to the tips provided for the new enemy types. As the tutorial suggests, you can shoot through the smaller Rattler bots.

(5) Freighter Fight

Epic Swag: Grenade I
Swag: 5 bags
Hats: Swordsman’s Hat, Navy Soldier Cap, Commander Hat, Safari Hat
Objectives: Scrap the Commander
Tips & Tricks: This mission is a race against time! Open green doors freely, but be cautious before breaching yellow doors. Once you kill the commander, an alarm will sound, and enemies will start flooding in—clear out as much loot as possible before that happens.

(7) Loot or Leave

Tips & Tricks: You will have two early chances to leave if you think your solo bot can’t complete the mission.

Objectives: Gather the Intel
Bonus Objective: Evacuate in 10 turns or less
Tips & Tricks: Once you grab the Epic Swag, doors will lock behind you, and an alternate route will open up. You can shoot a button in the last room to open a door for more Epic Swag—a key item needed later in the story. (No need to grab it now if it’s too dangerous.)

(9) Cheville Stockades

Objectives: Rescue the Mechanic (Note: This is a story mission, so a full crew is required; you cannot use fewer bots as in other missions.)
Tips & Tricks: This is likely your first encounter with wall turrets and loudspeakers (which buff enemies). This defense mission has a twist—you must defend Edna, who can be shot. Be prepared to hold your ground! You will need to protect her for 1 turn, then 3 turns, then 10 turns. During the 10-turn defense timer, you can loot the Epic Swag in a previously locked door if you can spare a steambot. Be warned: opening the Epic Swag door will trigger a loudspeaker turret, so ensure you’re prepared!
