In this guide, I’ll show you how to survive Nightmare Mode in PUMPKIN PANIC.

Nightmare Mode

Imagine this: you’re Pumpkin Head, and someone with a cooler pumpkin head is on your farm trying to steal your style! Here’s what you’ll find in Nightmare Mode:

  • Cannibal – No Warnings!
  • Slappy Tentacles
  • TWO DEER!?
  • Quests that must be completed
  • G g g g ghosts!?
  • New Unique Pumpkin Pets

Pumpkin’s Chores

In Nightmare Mode, you must complete 4 quests to escape! First, unlock your quests by giving the Scarecrow 4 pink tokens. You can’t start completing quests until they’re unlocked.

The 4 quests are always:

  1. Catch 5 ghosts
  2. Catch 4 of a specific fish
  3. Pick up 16 sticks or 16 grass
  4. Harvest 50 of a specific crop

Ghosts:

Ghosts get scared if you get too close. Sneak up from behind to catch them!

Crops Locations:

  • Center: Wobble Berries
  • Top Left: Sweet Cabbage
  • Top Right: Melancholic Sunflower
  • Bottom Left: Crispy Pineapple
  • Bottom Right: Juicy Cucumber

The Cannibal

The Cannibal is what makes Nightmare Mode scary! There are no warnings. To stay safe, set a timer on your phone for around 2:05 minutes. Reset it whenever you enter the cabin with violin music playing. Watch out on Day 2—the Cannibal sometimes shows up early, around 1:45. If you hear the clown’s sound instead of the Cannibal’s, don’t keep waiting—the clown will get you if you don’t act!

Tentacles

Tentacles can slap you, but they’re easy to avoid once you know where they spawn: on the dock, near where you fish, and at the bottom of the dock. If you see or hear bubbling in the water, move close to the area, then quickly back away to dodge.

Pumpkin Pets

Get these helpful pets to make Nightmare Mode easier:

  • Bird (Normal Mode): Gives you a penny every 10 seconds.
  • Frog (Normal Mode): Counts as a bucket upgrade.
  • Bat (Nightmare Mode): Highlights the deer sometimes.
  • Possum (Nightmare Mode): Speeds up energy recharge.

How to Get These Pets:

  • Bat: Shows up randomly at night. Show it love a few times to unlock it.
  • Possum: Runs across the farm at random. Catch it to unlock it!

Pro Tips

  • A second deer shows up after the second Cannibal, making it as hard as it gets! So play it safe from then on.
  • Light upgrades don’t just add lights—they also make your character’s light stronger so you can see more.
  • Be careful running around in the dark, especially when you don’t know where the deer are!
  • The fishing quest can take the longest, so start early if you’re aiming to finish quickly.
  • Don’t take risks with the Cannibal! Even if you wait near the house a lot, you can still win Nightmare Mode if you’re efficient with your time.
