Hero Emblems 2 Guide

I have compiled strategies and tips to help you progress in Hero Emblems 2 in this guide.

HE2 Gameplay Guide

This guide provides effective strategies for countering enemy debuff attacks, essential game knowledge, and recommendations for meal selections, all aimed at helping players navigate the game successfully.

Brief Version

Three ways to remove debuffs:

  1. By Matching rules
  2. By Skills/Traits
  3. Use Consumables

If you find that methods 1 and 2 do not effectively remove debuffs, resort to using method 3.

Here are some quick start tips:

Utilize Consumables:

  • Remember to buy consumables in town, such as HP/DP potions, and debuff removal items. Make sure they are placed in the four slots available for use in combat.
  • You can enter the Heroes Menu at stage branch points to reconfigure the consumables used in combat. So, remember to stock up in town.
  • Do not be stingy in using consumables.

Skill Configuration:

  • Some characters obtain debuff-removing magic cards early on, such as the White Mage(Odelia). Be sure to equip and use these.

Accessory Configuration:

  • Most accessories prevent debuffs. Equip them as soon as you acquire them. The knight character(Lucien), due to his passive ability to tank attacks, usually takes priority in accessory configuration.

Dining:

  • Letting certain characters eat meals that prevent debuffs can make battles go more smoothly. The combination of meals with the consideration of accessory distribution can vary greatly.

Traits:

  • Some characters will have Traits that can remove debuffs. Utilize these well once obtained.

HE2 is a challenging RPG where battles are conducted through clearing pieces on the board to trigger character actions, generating skill emblems, launching more combo attacks, and removing or resisting debuff effects…

From an RPG perspective, players can strengthen their characters by earning money to buy equipment and level up. However, you’ll still face the challenge of match-3 battle rules, which might be tough for those not adept at puzzle games—especially when confronted with numerous debuff attacks. Here, I will offer some methods and tips that should significantly reduce any frustration.

Carrying Consumables Items:

  • Carrying Consumable items: Before leaving the village, make sure to check if you have enough items and remember to place them in your inventory, and don’t hesitate to use them during battles.
  • HP/DP potions are usually used in dangerous situations, but there are also good times to use them, like when you need to use Odelia’s Wisdom Strike to detect an enemy’s weakness, but if a team member’s HP is not full, you can’t use attack skills. In this case, use an item to restore HP to trigger the detection. Similarly, to enable Lucien to use attack skills, you can timely use an item to restore DP.

Accessories:

  • Many accessories have debuff prevention effects, and it’s a fundamental strategy to prioritize equipping Lucien with these accessories. By leveraging his traits that allow him to endure attacks, he can effectively counteract certain debuffs during combat.

Dining:

  • Lucien: Opt for foods that “Increase DP,” “Enhance Recovery Power,” and “Prevent Debuffs.”
  • Increase DP: Not only does this give Lucien more opportunities to withstand attacks, but it also boosts his offensive capabilities, especially with the Shield Bash, which effectively causes damage and stuns.
  • Enhance Recovery Power: This allows for faster restoration of DP for your team members.
  • Prevent Debuffs: Given his trait to actively withstand enemy attacks, Lucien can more effectively block debuffs.
  • Odelia: Choose foods that “Increase HP,” “Enhance Recovery Power,” and “Prevent Debuffs.”
  • Increase HP: Similar to Lucien, this enhances her chance to join the offensive line, especially for executing moves like Wisdom Strike (to exploit enemy weaknesses) or Gravity, where a higher HP can be crucial.
  • Enhance Recovery Power: Facilitates quicker HP recovery for your team.
  • Prevent Debuffs: The worst scenario in battle is when characters capable of removing debuffs can’t perform skill combos due to being frozen, chained, skill-removal, paralyzed, etc., so consuming such foods is highly effective.

For other characters: They should select meals according to their desired role, but ideally, there should be at least one character on the field with enhanced offensive capabilities to speed up damage output. While it’s possible to go all-out on offense, carrying extra debuff removal items could also work well.

Adjustments at Route Selection

  • When entering a new stage for the first time, you won’t know the enemy’s attack patterns, but once you reach the route selection after several battles, you can adjust your characters’ accessories and abilities based on your recent combat experience. For example, if the level is infested with bats, having a warrior equipped with Breaking Slash might not be helpful. Alternatively, if you know the enemy’s weaknesses, you can switch to the corresponding magic card.
  • Remember to replenish your consumables as they are used up during the journey.

Traits

  • Making good use of characters’ traits when they Sub In and Sub Out can potentially turn the tide of battle. Some characters have traits that enhance skill emblems or remove debuffs.

Try Again

  • Sometimes, if the boss battle feels too challenging, you can choose to “Retry from the Last Dining Point.” Almost all boss fights are preceded by a chef, allowing you to use your recent battle experience to understand the enemy’s attacks and weaknesses. You can then re-eat meals, adjust accessories and skills, and replenish your portable items before taking on the boss again. This approach should allow you to defeat the boss more quickly.

Using Ultra Emblems

  • Some players save up their Ultra Emblems for boss fights; however, hoarding too many can restrict your options during matching. Using them strategically can therefore enhance combat efficiency.Remember to Equip Magic Cards Some players might overlook this, but remember to equip your magic cards after purchasing new ones.
